When the telephone rings at Red Hat Society’s Hatquarters in Fullerton, California, we never know when answering what astonishing scenario might develop.
Surprisingly one day, we received a call from the Las Vegas Postal Service. A nice woman on the other end of the line told us that they had found a woman’s purple wallet in one of their postal boxes. Upon a search of the wallet, they found a Red Hat Society Supporting Member card tucked carefully in its folds.
Now, do remember that this is the post office calling and that in our experience; they are usually known for mailing things not calling about things. Never the less, they decided to call us first to find this woman. It made us smile to think that perhaps this was not such an unusual choice once they determined that the Member was from out of town. We could just imagine that conversation: She’s a Member of the Red Hat Society; we bet they could find her while she is still in town!
Of course, it was a smart move because we were able to find the lady’s information and to call her for them. She was certainly surprised but happy to have us call her in the middle of her vacation. The story had a happy ending, our Member received her wallet back before she knew she had lost it and it even had her money still in it! The whole episode happened so quickly that she didn't have to replace her credit cards. We tip our hats to the nice gals at Post Offices around the world.
