Cheers to the RHS!

The holidays may be over, but the party never ends in the RHS. Hatters will always find an excuse to get together and have a great time with their Sisters.

To kick off our Thursday craft posts on Red Hat Chat, we wanted to share this fun DIY Pom Pom (or Tassel) Garland that you can make to add some RHS flare the location of your next gathering. You can also add it as a potential project for your next craft day with your girlfriends or Sisters.

This craft is inexpensive and very easy to make. In fact, you might just have everything you need for it right now! Keep reading to learn how to assemble your DIY Pom Pom Garland.

What You Need:

  • Tissue Paper in your desired colors. (We used red, purple and a glittery pink color.)
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Ribbon or twine

How to Assemble:
1. Take one sheet of tissue paper and fold it in half.
2. Once the sheet is folded, cut it in half perpendicular to the fold.

3. Cut 3/4" to 1" strips on the non-folded edge, leaving about 2" of room at the top.

4. Open the sheet, and begin to roll it from one end to the other keeping the fringe on both sides.

5. Once you have it rolled up, twist the center.

6. Next, fold the center in half and twist it around one of your fingers to create the loop. Then take a strand from the center of the pom pom and wrap it around just beneath the loop, and tape it to secure it.

7. Repeat this process with the rest of your tissue colors. We used two pieces from each color of tissue paper to make our garland.

8. The final step is to arrange the pom poms as you would like them to appear on the garland, and then string them through the loops.

There you have it! This DIY Pom Pom took us about an hour to make and assemble. We loved the idea, because it's simple and fun, and it really adds some cheer anywhere you put it. Enjoy!
