We don't know about you, but everywhere we looked this month, we were seeing red. But not for the reason you might be thinking about. Sure cupid did his part for lovers across the globe on Valentine's Day, but we were seeing red for heart health. While women across the United States raised awareness about the dangers of heart disease by wearing red for the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women campaign, we took the issue across country borders.
As an international Sisterhood, the Red Hat Society was compelled to get in on the action because heart disease is the #1 killer of women, and we are all about heart. Not to mention the color palette for the movement is right up our alley. (What woman doesn't look fabulous in red?)
Throughout the month, we encouraged Hatters to wear red and get informed about the benefits of heart health, because we believe that a healthy Hatter is a happy Hatter! Each week we shared new tips pertaining to health, the importance of de-stressing, and we inspired them to laugh on our Facebook page. For example:
“Laughing can be a great workout for your heart. Whenever you laugh, the blood flow in your heart is increased for up to 45 minutes, which in turn improves your heart health.” Have you laughed today?
We got interactive with them:
Here are a few words related to heart-health that have been scrambled. Can you guess what they are?
We showed off how fabulous they look in red!
How did you Go Red this month?
