14th Birthday Celebration and Décor!

Everyone in the Red Hat Society is filled with the birthday spirit and we decided to create these floating memory decorations to add a bit of pizzazz to Hatquarters! This festive activity is quick, cheap, simple and best of all CUTE!! It put a big smile on the faces of our guests this week.

What You Need:
Balloons: Foil or Latex with strings attached and inflated with helium
Printed pictures
Scissors
Hole puncher

We actually found these cute star balloons at the local dollar store, and we thought they were perfect for the "Stars Among Us" theme of 2012.

So here's what we did:
We went through our picture archive and selected some of the most memorable moments of the past year. (This is the most time-consuming part of the project!) Then, we printed them and punched a hole in the corner and tied them to the balloon strings.

You would not believe how many wonderful conversations and smiles were created from these decorations! They are perfect for Chapter anniversaries, birthday parties and you can even make a memory game out of these decorations. The possibilities are endless!

If you use these or any other ideas on the RHS Blog, please share your photos with us on our Facebook Page, or email them to Stories@redhatsociety.com.

A 14th Birthday Celebration in Hollywood
The Red Hat Society celebrated its 14th Birthday at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood, CA with nearly 300  Hatters. In a wonderful custom embraced by the Red Hat Society, the women enjoyed dessert first as they were serenaded by Hank Castro, former lead singer of Thee Midniters. They went on to enjoy a delicious lunch, free entrance to Madame Tussaud's attraction, and they were the VIP guests in a private RHS-only screening of Fox Searchlight Pictures' "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel."

Five RHS Members won the opportunity to have their names displayed on the Hard Rock Cafe marquee, and these women received the star treatment and took part in a special photo session commemorating their moment in the spotlight. One Queen in the Sisterhood received a free trip from Amtrak on the Pacific Surfliner route, and she will come to Hatquarters for a bit of VIP treatment when she takes her trip.
For a full recap of the RHS Festivities that took place around the world, and to see the pictures of our fabulous contest winners, look for the next Red Hatter Matters Magazine, which will be available on the Red Hat Society's website in May!

Props and Giggles!

Oh the fun never ends in The Red Hat Society! There is an awesome new addition to the "Fun Stuff" section of The Red Hat Society website, and this one is sure to put a smile on your face: Printable Photo Props!

These items are the perfect addition to any Chapter Activity, and they are so easy to print and assemble!

What you will need:
-Your Prop Printouts
-Scissors
-Tape
-A Thin Stick (We have used coffee straws)

Simply print and cut out your images, and tape the stick to the back of each item. (It's always best to tape the stick to the side of the prop rather than the middle.) Next, strike a pose with your fabulous props and let the giggling ensue when you see the results.

Now here's your challenge ladies: Take photos of yourselves and your Sisters with these fabulous props and post them on the Red Hat Society's Facebook Page, or send them to Stories@redhatsociety.com.

Birthdays! Birthdays! Birthdays!

It's the Red Hat Society's birthday month, and we have asked Hatters to share some fun birthday celebration stories and activities they have participated in. This story was submitted by Queen Mum Donna of the Red Roses of Ranchero Chapter (Florida, United States), and it was so sweet that we had to share it!

The Red Roses of Largo Put A Twist on Birthdays
On March 21, 2012 the Red Roses of Ranchero held their annual Chapterette birthday party. The celebration was a “Birthday Brunch” complete with mimosas, and it was hosted by Chapterettes Terry, Rose and Edda. Each attendee was presented with a special gift donated by our Canadian Red Hat Sister Sally, a flamingo dressed in red feathers and a purple hat in honor of the birthday month.

Of course, since this was a brunch, Hatters were encouraged to show off their Red and Purple PJ’s. Instead of exchanging personal gifts this year, our hostesses encouraged Chapterettes to purchase toys for the “birthday closet” at Grace House, a local women’s shelter. We all left our birthday party with happy hearts knowing that children in a difficult situation might have a few moments of happiness on their special day.

Love those PJ's ladies!! What a wonderful event! Although acts of giving are not a requirement of the Red Hat Society, we love to hear stories about Hatters who have gone above and beyond for others. Thank you for sharing the "Magic in the Hat"! If you have a birthday story that you would like to share, send it to Stories@redhatsociety.com.

The Red Hat Society will celebrate its 14th Birthday at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood on Wednesday, April 25th. We have a stellar list of events lined up for this special day, including a private VIP screening of Fox Searchlight's "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" starring Judi Dench.

It's Audrey, Darling!

Have you seen the incredible Red Hat Society Paper Dolls listed under the "Fun Stuff" tab of The Red Hat Society's website? Your design team at Hatquarters has come up with yet another fashionable outfit for you to play with: the Audrey Hepburn "Breakfast At Tiffany's" inspired dress.

These Paper Dolls are a wonderful reminder of the fun that awaits you at the Golden Age of Glamour International Convention in June. We would love to see Hatters print and bring their Paper Dolls to the convention and show them off! They are light and travel easily, and they would be the perfect accessory at our PJ Breakst lovingly titled: "Breakfast in Paris." (Audrey Hepburn herself said Paris is always a good idea.) If you would like to be creative and make your own dress for your Paper Dolls, we would love to see what you come up with!

To view these and other free items available to RHS Members, click on the "Fun Stuff" tab of the Red Hat Society's website. If you would like to join the Red Hat Society and have full access to these items, click here!

"I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and... I believe in miracles."

Red Hat Style

Ladies, it's time for another Red Hat Style post! This week we are showcasing a Pink Hatter's style. Pictured above is Shannon of the Ruby RedHat's Ramblers Chapter.

Shannon came to Hatquarters on the day of her birthday to join the Red Hat Society. Her cousin Corinne gave her the beautiful lavender crocheted hat that she is wearing in the picture, along with the fabulous pink feather boa. Shannon's regalia added a bit of extra sparkle to her fabulously chic, yet casual style.

Doesn't she look great? We love the way regalia can just add that extra bit of pizzazz to an outfit! You look fabulous Shannon!

If you have photos of your personal RHS style that you would like to share, please send them to Stories@redhatsociety.com, and title your email "Fashionista."
