Let's All Think Pink!
During the month of October, The Red Hat Society is going to celebrate the fabulous and important Members of the RHS, Pink Hatters .
Pink Hatters, or Pinkies as we lovingly refer to them, are the Red Hat Society's "Ladies In Waiting". These Hatters wear pink hats and lavender clothing until they reach their momentous 50th Birthday and REDuate Hatters REDuate to red hats and purple regalia. This month, we asked Pinkies to share their stories with the Sisterhood, and Pink Hatter Queen Ambrosia of the Vidatious Red Lilies of the Mountains (North Carolina, United States) took to email right away to tell us about how she became the Queen of her own Chapter!
Queen Ambrosia first encountered the Red Hat Society nine years ago, when she worked at a T-shirt and hat store in North Carolina. She was 19 years old at the time, and the Hatters were frequent visitors to the shop.
"I spent a lot of time with the group showing them different hats and watching them having an absolute ball. That's when I thought about how awesome it would be to go out with girlfriends and not care about how silly I acted," Queen Ambrosia said.
Just a few short years later, Queen Ambrosia met a Hatter who opened the doors to the wonderful world of Hatting to Queen Ambrosia by telling her that she could join as a RHS Member and proud Pink Hatter.
"She explained to me how to get on the website and how to join, and she expressed how important the Legacy was to be carried on through younger generations," she said.
Queen Ambrosia joined the Sisterhood and immediately began contacting Chapters in her area. She was also encouraged by women on the Queens and Member Board, the Red Hat Society's Members-only discussion forum, to start a Chapter of her own. Being the go-getter that she is, Queen Ambrosia took the advice and opened her own Chapter. Now, the Vidatious Red Lilies of the Mountains Chapter is two Members strong and happily accepting new Members.
"The RHS has brought out the giddy school girl in me. I am excited to be a Pinkie Queen and will enjoy life with my life-long Sisters."
Thank you for sharing your story Queen Ambrosia! You had glitter in your veins from the start, and you are shining bright now!
