Red Solo Cup We'll Bling You Up!

There's a new trend popping up in the Red Hat Society, and it involves creating what Members are fondly calling an "RHS Wine Goblet" from a Red Solo Cup, a candle holder and as much bling as they can possibly imagine.

This craft was just so cool that we had to share it with everyone. After browsing through the many pictures Hatters posted on Facebook, we at Hatquarters decided to take on the task of creating our own version of the RHS Wine Goblet.

One Hatquarters Staff Member brought in a bag of Red Solo Cups, another one picked up a candle holder when she was at the dollar store, and another gathered tons of bling, feathers, and other decorative elements to make our goblet look as festive as possible. Here is the finished product:

The beauty of this craft is that it can be as grand as you would like it to be!

Here's a list of the essential items you will need:
- Two Red Solo Cups- The outer cup is for decoration. The second cup is interchangeable for the different drinks you will have.
- A glass candle holder
- Bling, Bling and more Bling
- Scissors
- A hot glue gun

Duchess of Dazzle, Donna, of the Mission Made Chapter (Texas, United States) offered this useful tip for assembling your goblet.

"Lightly sand the top of the glass candlestick, place a pretty bead in the hole for the candle, and lightly sand the bottom of the Red Solo Cup. Glue the cup to the top of the candle holder and press on it to make sure you have good contact. Wait 24 hours before drinking out of it, and make sure your decorations are not where your lips will be."

This craft would be a thoroughly entertaining Chapter activity, and it would make for a fabulous gift. Hatters on our Members-only Queens and Members Board are chatting about this fun activity. Click here to see what they have to say!

  2. I just finished blinging up a Red Solo Cup. Someone said that the "wine gift boxes" from Michaels would be a good fit. Well I bought 4 and now find that even an undecorated cup wont go down into it. What do I do now??

    1. Do Solo cups come in different sizes? If not, just wrap it in tissue and use a pretty red gift bag.....maybe more bling on the bag!!

    2. Is the knot from the cord stopping the cup from going in? If so replace the cord with a ribbon. Might work.
