Queen Tourmaline Receives The Royal Treatment

Queen Connie, also known as Queen Tourmaline of the Precious Gems Chapter (Ontario, Canada) is one of those women who nurtures and genuinely cares for each and every one of her Chapterettes.

"I worry when one of my Chapterettes is going through a difficult time. I support them with a phone call or e-mail, and I visit them like any good friend would do," Queen Connie shared on her website.

These are the little acts of kindness that prompted one of Queen Connie's Chapterettes, Duchess Coral, to nominate her for the "Queen For A Day" contest hosted by the Local Business Improvement Association. Duchess Coral wrote a beautiful nomination for Queen Connie, and much to their surprise, she won.

"I don't know who was more excited-- Coral or me!"

The royal treatment for the "Queen For A Day" weekend began on Friday with a basket filled with goodies and gift certificates from local businesses. On Saturday,Connie was pampered with a head-to-toe makeover, including: highlights, a haircut, a manicure and a pedicure. She then enjoyed a wonderful lunch and more gifts from local businesses, and she was chauffeured everywhere! Finally, Queen Connie enjoyed a wonderful dinner for four with Duchess Coral, her Aunt Mary and Vice-Queen Diamond.

Of course, every Queen must participate in a parade! On Sunday, Queen Connie, took her place (tiara and all) with her Lady-In-Waiting, Duchess Coral, on a coach fit for a Queen in the "Paint The Town Red Canada Day Parade" procession.

"Words cannot begin to describe the feeling of seeing the people lined up along the parade route, waving, cheering and some even curtsied. I still cannot believe it! It is all very surreal. I am very proud of the Chapterettes of the Precious Gems, and the bonds and friendships we have developed. We would never have met without the Red Hat Society. I can't imagine not having this wonderful group of women as friends."

What an incredible experience Queen Connie! We love to learn about the different ways that wonderful Hatters like you are treated like the Stars and Queens that  you are, and from the sound of it, you had an incredible weekend. Thank you for embodying the spirit of the Red Hat Society!

At the Red Hat Society, we love to receive stories from Hatters about the many events and activities they have participated in. These stories are shared through many publications, including: the Friday Broadcast, our blog Red Hat Chat and our magazine Red Hatter Matters. Do you have a story that you would like to share? Please send it to Stories@RedHatSociety.com, so we can pass it along in the Sisterhood. Did you recently receive the star treatment? Send your story in with the subject: I'm a Star.

More importantly, if you are reading this and have not made the official decision to join the Red hat Society- we believe it's time to take advantage of the amazing Sisterhood. We can't wait to get to know you! Join us today!

  1. Such an honour to not only be the Queen for a Day but to be posted on the Red Hat Society Hatquarters Blog. Wow.........the whole chapter is so excited. Thank you so much for posting it and Betty Ann for submitting it. We have been recognized internationally - that is amazing. This honour is not only my own but shared by my whole chapter.
